Developing young language explorers: Using culture as a springboard for production

In this video John discusses the role of culture in the young learner classroom. John begins by defining culture and why it is becoming increasingly important in modern society. The second part of the video examines example pages from modern course books and how teachers can approach teaching culture effectively. In particular, the session is framed around encouraging oral production in the classroom and practical activities for teaching cultural texts, personalization tasks and presentations.
